Luca Artioli
Luca Artioli was born in Milan, Italy in 1963. After graduating from the University of Milan with a degree in Political Science he went to work for one of the most important banks in Italy.
In 2000, after a Master’s Degree in Photography, he left the world of finance to follow his special vocation for “light” and poetry. His original photographic and poetic research strives to reveal the close connection between the tensions of man and nature.
Artioli has brilliantly married the essence of the greats - Da Vinci, Donatello, Bellini - with a modern medium to make way for a fresh and effervescent collection of organic works.
Artioli took up residency in the vibrant city of Miami Beach, to pursue his project on the city's magical Art Deco architecture.
In what is sure to be an epic exhibition of Miami history, as it has never been explored before, Artioli's ArtDECOconstruction series is the choice introduction for his avante garde approach to photographic art in the United States.
The verses that accompany his pictures bring readers into a magic, suspended rea lity, along paths that usher the spirit to find a “piece of the sky.”
The Fashion world was attracted to his emotion-laden art, and in 2008 Hermès chose to pay homage to his “Indian fantasies,” a theme of Hermès's new collection, by displaying in its Italian boutiques a selection of Artioli’s photographs exploring the splendour and mystery of India.
Since 1996, he has worked with the publishing house Giorgio Mondadori, and since 2005 with Mondadori Electa. He has published the following books: Al di là del buio - Beyond the dark, 2009; Respiro di neve - I Breathe snow, 2007 - India, colori di vita, 2005 - I campi dell'anima - Soul Fields, 2004; Adda. Il segno dell’acqua - Imprint of a Waterway, 2002 Bianco di luna - Blanc de lune, 2001; Val Gardena. I colori dell’estate, 2000; Val Gardena. Emozioni di un millennio, 1999; and Della luce del buio, 1998
Artioli has had several photographic exhibitions. His works are sold in leading art galleries in Italy and around the world. In January 2009, Artioli took part in the Palmbeach 3 Contemporary Art Fair; in December 2008, his work was featured at the Miami Art Basel.
| Wonder |
Nothing is more beautiful than bestowing a flash of wonder.
It is a gift of which no matter remains
except an indelible trace in the memory of our goodness.
Remember the first snow? Wonder!
Wonder redolent of moon and sun.
Wonder speaks of dawns, sunsets, abandonment and rebirth.
Wonder redolent of ice blue and white horizons,
strong with rock and soft with white cloud, which has the scent of fog on the fields
and accompanies the stars in our darkness, endlessly.
I am a collector of wonders.
I collect everywhere grace, fate, chance, time,
I allow myself to find them.
I place them in a transparent silk bag.
Together they shine and pulse like a firefly in the night,
a bow lamp on the sea or that Alpine shelter up above.
I walk with my bag of wonder, I walk along straight,
on easy roads, on winding ones and those that lead uphill.
I walk with my heart beating and my body sweating of toil.
I walk with my questions and without seeking answers.
Not a day passes without unexpectedly bringing me a flash of wonder.
No night in which I fail to pay back at least once.
I unfasten the bag, open it and it appears silently
trembling with soft light, this small ray of wonder.
Today I give it you, as first flake and breath of snow.
